As I mentioned in a previous post, I have chosen the word, gospel, to think about and meditate on in 2016.  Gospel in the Greek literally means, "good news."  My best definition of gospel is the "life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ." I hope to have a deeper understanding of the word and definition at the end of 2016. Check out previous posts on this topic. 4  In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 4:3)

Here are promises of God from 2 Corinthians compiled by Kenneth Boa: God is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from him (1:3-4). God always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him (2:14). “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22  set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)

My word for 2014 is focused on the power of God.  Are you feeling weak today?  Be encouraged by the truth of God's Word that in our weakness, Jesus is powerful. 9  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. ” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)

8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 4:15)

Here are my notes from my message today entitled, "Check Yes or No" based on 2 Corinthians 1:18-22. Introduction:   The title for this morning’s message comes from a George Strait song with the same name as well as remembering back to elementary or middle school where notes were passed between boys and girls with a question usually related to do you like me with two boxes at bottom.   Usually with the obvious directions to check one.    This morning we are going to look a similar question the people in Corinth were asking.   They wanted to know if it was yes or no. We will look at three P’s to help us understand and live out this passage from the Word of God.
