Happy 20th Anniversary, Bethany!

Today is my 20th wedding anniversary! I don't think it is possible because I don't feel that old. I am thankful for my amazing wife.  She has been a blessing to me in so many ways. I still remember: seeing you for the first time on our wedding day as you walked down the aisle. the large hole in the back of my tux jacket that had to be repaired.  Thanks Denice! all of the great food at the reception that we hardly ate and a meal at Carlos O'Kelley's that we didn't eat much of either. being sent to the basement of the church because of bad weather and how some of our guests saw a tornado on their drive home, but when we drove to Kansas City, we only saw rainbows. an awesome week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for our honeymoon including Blue's Clues, 10 grain pancakes (or was it more?), wonderful restaurants, beaches, going to the movies, and even a waterpark (you must of been in love because I don't think you have been to one since)  We still have ...

Celebrating with my wife

Image
Over the last few days, I have been celebrating my 19th anniversary with Bethany (it was actually June 13).  I have tried over the years to plan a night or two away to enjoy being together as husband and wife.  When you have kids, this becomes more of a challenge.  When your anniversary falls in the middle of the busiest time for both of you (Sidewalk Sale, Summer Camp, VBS, Kids' summer games), it requires some patience, flexibility, and creativity. So, right now, we are in Kansas City for a few days shopping, eating, and enjoying one another's company and conversation.  By recommendation, I booked the Casablanca room at Chateau Avalon. I'm looking forward to this time together.

Happy Anniversary, Bethany!

Today is my 19th wedding anniversary.  I am so thankful that Bethany said yes two decades ago.  I love her more today than I did 19 years ago when I said, "I Do."  Since then we have lived in three cities and 6 different apartments/homes and have added 4 kids.  She truly is a blessing to me in so many ways! Happy Anniversary, Beautiful! Now, enjoy some of my favorite photos of us!

Happy Mother's Day!

Image
Today, we celebrate moms. I am thankful for the mothers in my life.  Hopefully, we say "thank you" appreciate, and celebrate moms throughout the year too. I am thankful for my mother-in-law, Shirley.  She did a great job raising my wife and I have appreciated her through the years of knowing her.  She is generous, caring, and a wonderful "Grammie". I am also thankful for my mother who taught me about hard work, supported me through the years, loves to give gifts to others, makes me laugh, plans fun trips for the family and is a great wife and grandmother too.  And last but not least, I am thankful for the mother of my children, Bethany.  What a blessing she is to me!  She has been a great mother all of these years.  I remember hearing about her passion to be a stay-at-home mom in conversations during college.  She served long and exhausting days with our kids while she stayed home and then has also stepped into the role of wo...

Today is my wife's birthday.  Stop by Faith and Life Bookstore in Newton and tell her "Happy Birthday!" I am thankful for the day of her birth because it means that one day I would meet her and have the opportunity to date and eventually marry her.  I love you.  I hope you have a great day, Bethany!

Celebrating 18 years together--a few weeks late

Image
Our anniversary often falls in the middle of VBS, softball & basketball games, and sidewalk sale.  Therefore, we went out on a date closer to our anniversary (June 13), but we are officially celebrating with a weekend away now.  I look forward to our time together.  I am thankful she said yes.

Happy Anniversary, Bethany!

Today, Bethany and I have been married for 18 years.  You can donate here to help Bethany and J.L. get to Hawaii for our 20th--it's only 2 years away! I am thankful for the woman I married and love her more everyday.  Over the years, we have had some great experiences together.  We also have had challenges which have helped us trust one another and God more. Marriage is a gift from God. Happy Anniversary, Bethany!
