Grace and the Ocean

Image
Have you ever thought about how grace and the ocean have a lot of similarities? Check out this post which was originally written following the Liberate Conferences 4 years ago.  I am sharing it again today because I have just been to the Here We Still Stand Conference in beautiful San Diego and definitely made a few trips to the beach while I was there. Be reminded of what Christ has DONE for you. Grace is like an ocean because: It is deep .  When we think we have understood its depths, there is always more and more. It is far reaching .  No matter what you have done in your past, God's grace can reach you. It is free . Isn't it amazing that you can go to the beach for free?  No admission fee. It draws you in .  Just like the undercurrent in the ocean, God draws us to Himself. It is rest . Listening to the waves is relaxing and peaceful. Living by grace is rest and freedom. It is unpredictable . You cannot predict th...

Here are some of my favorite tweets from the last few weeks.  This is one of the blessings of social media where we can hear the gospel from people all over the world. If you like the tweet, go and follow the person on Twitter. You can't be any more right with God than you are right now. You are as righteous before God as Jesus Christ. You're hidden in Him. You can't improve on what Jesus has already completed. It's a done deal. @EvanHeadrick The only thing that can soften a heart is the absolute finished character of God’s love, as represented in the cross. We can afford to go to a God who understands us in Jesus, most perfectly, and bring to him ourselves as we really are. (Jack Miller) The One who emptied that tomb is using his same power in your life to carry you through whatever you face. The same power that was at work in Jesus is at work in you. (Jack Miller) Where Christ is, there is rest. Why? Because there is completeness. @simplegospelpod     ...

If you like the tweet, go and follow the person on Twitter. He wants you to walk in love, but he wants you to see that love is found in his Son. Faith looks away from self to the cross and to Christ and what the Father has done. When you look to Jesus, a holy love spreads through your life. (Jack Miller)  I am chosen, not forsaken. I am who You say I am. You are for me, not against me. I am who You say I am. @EvanHeadrick Faith is not interested in faith. How big it is, how little it is. How strong it is, how weak. Faith is not about itself. It's about Christ. @birdchadlouis When Jesus said “it is finished” from the cross, it means that He was the perfect sacrifice for our sins AND He perfectly fulfilled and obeyed the law in our place. @Ryan_Haskins Nothing matters more than justification by Christ ...

The false idol of super – Christians has destroyed the freedom of those who aren’t! @DrSteveWBrown Justification is still the doctrine upon which the church stands or falls. @MichaelHorton_ I am a Christian not because I think that I can walk in Jesus’s footsteps but because he is the only one who can carry me. I am not the gospel; Jesus Christ alone is the gospel. —Michael Horton via @birdchadlouis Love doesn’t come from us. We only love because God loved us first. We need to lift our eyes. @simplestapleton When we don’t have an assurance of God’s love, we don’t want to be in his presence because of our sin. Faith can’t flourish when you see God this way… Faith looks at least 10 times more at Christ then at your sin. (Jack Miller) God gives...

And if you do, I’ll love you, and if you don't, I’ll ...

Bear fruit. See John 15. But in the church we have focused on the fruit without remembering the Vine. It’s not about what we do, but what God in Christ through the Holy Spirit does through us. Church, abide (be with Jesus) & the fruit will come! #hesstonmb That is what God‘s goodness has done to me. He has created in my heart a great desire to please the one who loves me, knowing that, if I don’t please him or even have the desire to please him, he will remain quite fond of me. @DrSteveWBrown A salvation from sin divorced from justification is an impossibility and justi...
