Promotion Sunday

Image
Promotion Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year because it signals the beginning of our year in Go Deeper Hour.  On this day, we introduce new teachers for all of our classes for kids, youth and adults.  We give Hesston MB bags filled with goodies to our 1st graders because they promote out of Children's Church and we give Bibles to our 3rd graders. Adults, which class are you attending this year?  There is something for everyone.  Try one and if it is not what you are looking for, try another one.  I believe we have classes with a variety of topics and variety of teaching styles.  If you have questions about the classes, please let me know. I look forward to celebrating Promotion Sunday with you today!

It's Promotion Sunday!

It's that time again!  It's Promotion Sunday.  I love this day as we kick off our new Go Deeper Hour classes.  For kids, they could be moving to a new room and a new teacher.  It is also the day we recognize our teachers/helpers as they "make disciples who make disciples."  We also take time to give gifts to our new First Graders (who receive a bag full of goodies) as they promote out of Children's Church and we give Bibles to our new Third Graders.  It is also a day of fellowship including a brunch for our adults after all the class/teacher introductions.  Pastor Brad also gives his "State of the Church" address during the worship service .  In the evening this year, we are gathering all of our Big Groups together for an evening of fun through games, cold treats, and a pool party.  Times and locations are listed below: 9:00 a.m.-Promotion Sunday-All ages please gather in the sanctuary 10:10 a.m.-Worship Service 6:30 p.m.-Big Group...

Art in the Park today

Hopefully, you are planning on attending Art in the Park today at King Park in Hesston from 9 a.m. to noon.  I am excited to see how God will use this day in the lives of children, youth, and adults.  This idea was shared with me by Brittni Rhodes several years ago.  We talked about new ideas for families during the summer.  She shared her vision for what will occur on Saturday.  I quickly recognized this was a "God sized" idea and needed much more support that I as an individual could give.  Brittni understood this and we continued discussing and praying about it.  Today, it becomes a reality.  I think what is planned today is even bigger than what we originally discussed.  Today, you will find 5th-12th graders running an art booth in King Park.  These young people are sharing a passion they have and also connecting it to God's Word in some way.  Adults are in support roles and I cannot wait to see what will happen. You ...

This is the last post I am doing based on D6 Louisville.  Below you find a description of my plan. I was in Louisville for the D6 Conference on Oct. 16-18.  During that time, I posted several posts from various speakers.  I decided to group those posts based on topic for your convenience.  Below you will find the first of several themed posts from the D6 Conference.   The links in this post are on the topic of sharing Christ with children and youth. Globetrotters

Tonight, I am taking the 3 oldest kids to see the Globetrotters at Intrust Bank Arena. They are very excited and I am too. I have never been to see them, but Mitchell has been wanting to go for over a year. Thanks to Grammy & Grandaddy for buying the tickets! I look forward to some fun with the kiddos tonight. Now, I just need to get everything done in my office so we can leave at 5. Yesterday, was a good day. Hesston had a snow day (more like an ice day) and so I was able to stay home with all 4 kids. We had some fun around the house and then ran some errands followed by a stop at Lincoln Perk. On a side note, we are about to save the princess on Mario Brothers for the Wii . I am looking forward to this Sunday as it is Youth Sunday at Hesston MB. It always great to see how God uses the gifts of our young people. For those that know me, I dislike the quote, "Youth are the church of tomorrow." I disagree--Youth are the church of today. We need to be allowing ...
