Favorite Book Friday

Image
It's that time of year again!  I have shared all of my new books through my weekly posts, New Book Friday.  Now, it's time to share my favorite books over the next several months.  They are in no particular order, but they have shaped my understanding of who God is and who I am which impacts my head, heart, and hands.  I would highly recommend you checking out these books.

You Are New

“ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! ” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

You are the Body

“ Now you are the body of Christ and in dividually members of it.   (1 Corinthians 12:27)

You Are Blessed

“ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3)

God is Blessed

God is blessed Bless ed be the Lord , the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen. (Psalm 41:13)   Bless ed be the Lord , the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. (Psalm 72:18)  Bless the Lord , O my soul,      and all that is within me,      bless his holy name! 2  Bless the Lord , O my soul,      and forget not all his benefits, 3  who forgives all your iniquity,      who heals all your diseases, (Psalm 103:1-3) So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Bless ed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” (John 12:13) therefore in Him we are blessed And God bless ed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”...

You Are Crucified

“ I have been crucified with Christ . It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me . (Galatians 2:20) I usually don't expound on identity verses but this one needs explanation.  Jesus was crucified for us.  When we become followers of Christ, our flesh is crucified and we now live by faith.  Flesh and Spirit are part of the "already and not yet" of life between salvation and glorification.  Because of Jesus, sin and flesh do not have the power over us. Since we sometimes forget what Christ has DONE, we revert back to living in the flesh. When this happens, we need to be reminded of Christ's death for us because at the cross, He defeated sin, death, sickness, Satan, and the flesh.

God is Righteous

God is Righteous Your righteous ness, O God , reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God , who is like you? (Psalm 71:19)  Declare and present your case; let them take counsel together! Who told this long ago? Who declared it of old? Was it not I, the Lord ? And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides me. (Isaiah 45:21) For in it the righteous ness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)    we are declared righteous 21  But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22  the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24  and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ...

God is Love

Because God is love How priceless is your unfailing love , O God ! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. (Psalm 36:7)  Whoever does not love does not know God , because God is love . (1 John 4:8)   38  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, [ a ] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39) I am loved But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. (Deuteronomy 7:8)  The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3)  For God so loved the world that he gave his on...

God is Rescuer

God is Rescuer 7  The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8  So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey...(Exodus 3:7-8) "The Lord who rescue d me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.” (1 Samuel 17:37)  He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescue d me because he delighted in me. (Psalm 18:19) Therefore, we are rescued Rise up and help us; rescue us because of your unfailing love. (Psalm 44:26) Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. (Isaiah 46:4) 13  For he ...

You are Blessed

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3)

God is Creator

Because God is Creator In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God . (Genesis 5:1)   Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. (Isaiah 40:28) Therefore, we are created in His image and new So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.  (Psalm 139:14) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation . The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

God is Provider

God is our Provider 19  And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) So Abraham called the name of that place, “ The Lord will provide ”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provide d.” (Genesis 22:14) One of God's names is Jehovah Jireh--the God who provides. Therefore, we are provided for     He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;      the Lord is gracious and merciful. 5  He provides food for those who fear him;      he remembers his covenant forever. 6  He has shown his people the power of his works,      in giving them the inheritance of the nations. (Psalm 111:4-6)  No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape...

God Forgives

God Forgives 2  Bless the Lord , O my soul,      and forget not all his benefits, 3  who forgives all your iniquity,      who heals all your diseases, (Psalm 103:2-3) For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. (Jeremiah 31:34) Therefore, we are forgiven   9  And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city. 2  And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven .” 3  And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” 4  But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5  For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven ,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? 6  But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” —he then said to the paralyt...

What's Playing on the Radio?

Image
Here is another song that is playing on the radio that is full of the gospel.  It was the theme for Daughters of the King 2014.  It has become one of my favorites because of its focus on our identity in Christ. Lyrics below. There's got to be more Than going back and forth From doing right to doing wrong 'Cause we were taught that's who we are Come on get in line right behind me You along with everybody Thinking there's worth in what you do Then like a hero who takes the stage when We're on the edge of our seats saying it's too late Well let me introduce you to amazing grace   No matter the bumps No matter the bruises No matter the scars Still the truth is The cross has made The cross has made you flawless No matter the hurt Or how deep the wound is No matter the pain Still the truth is The cross has made The cross has made you flawless   Could it possibly be That we simply can't believe That this unconditional Kind of l...
