What is the gospel?

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have chosen the word, gospel, to think about and meditate on in 2016.  Gospel in the Greek literally means, "good news."  My best definition of gospel is the "life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ." I hope to have a deeper understanding of the word and definition at the end of 2016. Check out previous posts on this topic. 2  I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those who seemed influential) the gospel that I proclaim among the Gentiles, in order to make sure I was not running or had not run in vain. (Galatians 2:2)   5  to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. (Galatians 2:5)

(Galatians 1:8-9)   11  For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel. (Galatians 1:11)

Promises of God from Galatians

Here are promises of God from Galatians compiled by Kenneth Boa: Christ Jesus gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age (1:3-4). As believers in Christ, we have been crucified with him, and it is no longer we who live, but Christ lives in us.   The life we live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave himself for us (2:20). Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (3:13). We who have been baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ.   There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for we are all one in Christ Jesus.   If we belong to Christ, then we are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (3:27-29). When we live by the Spirit, we will not gratify the desires of the flesh.   Since we live by the Spirit, we are called to keep in step with the Spirit (5:16, 25). The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, ki...
