My word for 2018 is abide.  I have this great picture over my fireplace made by a good friend that reminds me to abide each day.  My understanding of abide is to "be with Jesus." What does it mean to abide?  Here are some definitions to help us better understand the word.  The Greek word "meno" which is a verb means "to stay". It can also be translated as abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry for.  Each week I will share a verse (or two) to help us better understand abiding. 24  But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. (Philippians 1:24) 25  Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, (Philippians 1:25)  

For 2017, the phrase I am focusing on is "in Christ."  Each week, I will post 1 verse that includes the phrase "in Christ". I look forward to growing in understanding of what it means to be "in Christ." 1  Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers and deacons:   24  But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. 25  Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, 26  so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again. (Philippians 1:1, 24-26)

This is a now a regular feature on the blog.  Usually on Mondays, I get caught up on my favorite podcasts and this usually results in a lot of tweeting on that day.  However, if you are at work and not checking Twitter during that time, you might miss some of the great truth being shared by others.  So, I am sharing some of best tweets from the previous week which include great wisdom and truth. Here are notes from my sermon today at Hesston MB.  It is based on Philippians 1:12-18. The Important Thing Philippians 1:12-18 Praise : What God has done at Philippi -As we begin this morning, let’s be reminded of the opening verses from Philippians 1 that were read during singing this morning. ·          1:3-Paul is thankful for people of Philippi. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have chosen the word, gospel, to think about and meditate on in 2016.  Gospel in the Greek literally means, "good news." My best definition of gospel is the "life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ." I hope to have a deeper understanding of the word and definition at the end of 2016. Check out previous posts on this topic. 15  It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16  The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. (Philippians 1:15-16)   27  Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
