This book is a great reminder that our theology about who Jesus is not just beliefs but a person.  Judah Smith does a great job communicating who Jesus is in a simple way.  Check it out!   

We often forget.  We see throughout history the Israelites and the church forgetting. We need to be reminded often of who God is in Scripture, church history and in our lives and churches. This is a new feature on the blog on the names of God.  Why?  Because these names are not just what God does, it is who He is.  I hope this will encourage you as you are reminded of how good, great, and awesome our God is. Light of the World   We see God throughout Scripture using "light" as a description of Himself.    12  Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12) What it reminds me?  Often, where Jesus went, he shined light into the darkness.  As followers of Christ, we can point others to the light.  Jesus as our light can direct our paths and bring peace even in the darkness.

This past week as I was reading Because He Loves Me by Elyse Fitzpatrick and Core Christianity by Michael Horton they both were talking about evil and sin.  Below you will find a few quotes to ponder from my reading: We must fight our battle in the certainty that our enemy has been overcome. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have chosen the word, gospel, to think about and meditate on in 2016.  Gospel in the Greek literally means, "good news." My best definition of gospel is the "life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ." I hope to have a deeper understanding of the word and definition at the end of 2016.
