Sermon Notes "Power Struggle" based on 1 Corinthians 15:56-58

Introduction: My sermon today is titled, “Power Struggle”. This title came from preparation that I did when I taught on Wednesday night at end of June on “Power”.  I asked those gathered this question and I’m asking you it today- Where do we see “power” in our culture? (money, status (get to the top), work hard, manipulation, etc.) How does that compare to power in the kingdom of God? (humility, dependance, less of me, abiding)  We will see these again in our verses this morning. Death (vs. 56) ·          The sting of death is sin . Sermon Notes "The Gospel A-Z" based on 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Introduction: The Gospel is…. Spend 30 seconds finishing that sentence.  Tim Keller says, “The gospel is not just the ABC of the Christian life but the A to Z of the Christian life.” It helps to start with what the gospel is not.   o    It’s a philosophy. For example, the gospel according to JL. o    It’s a genre of music o    It’s evangelism-It’s door to door, shouting from street corners (Repent) o    It’s what you say or what is shared at end of sermon that gets people saved o    It’s what starts the Christian life, then we move on to something deeper o    It’s a lifestyle or how we live (be the gospel or live the gospel) You might be the only Jesus someone sees. o    It’s being good. Introduction : We are continuing a 5 week study on the 5 Solas. Sola is Latin for alone, the solas were considered the foundational principles of Protestantism which was begun by Martin Luther in 1517 (Sola! Pg 3) Review : Scripture Alone -One Story, God-Breathed, Useful Grace Alone from God for us, a gift available to all people for all of life and motivation. Who is Christ? Write down what Christ accomplished for us.  Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 What Christ Did vs. 1-8 ·          Vs. 1-Brothers and Sisters, Church, let me remind you of the gospel.   o    What are we to remind?
