If you are regular reader of the blog, on Fridays I have shared new books, favorite books, and most recently kid books.  Now, I am going to share discipleship resources that I would recommend each Friday. 

Tonight, we begin our year of small groups together. I look forward to another year with my small group. Welcome to the Beckers ! Pastor Brad and I have decided to try doing sermon based small groups this year. Each time our small group gathers we will plan to discuss the sermon from the previous two Sundays and discuss ways to go deeper and put ideas into action. Pastor Brad is currently preaching through the CHRIST acrostic which explains who we are as Hesston MB Church. We will start tonight with what it means to be Centered on Scripture. So, how about you? Are you a part of a small group? If not, why? Small groups provide a great opportunity to connect with others as well as connect with God. If you are a part of a small group: How do you determine what you discuss? Have you tried sermon based small groups? How did it work? Is a curriculum chosen by each group or by leadership? Today has been one packed today. But even though it was very busy, it has been a blessed day too. This morning, I had a meeting at Tabor College to discuss Junior Camp activities. I went to my closet and the only long sleeve shirt I had was a Sterling College shirt. I proudly wore my Sterling shirt to my meeting and laughed to myself while on campus. It was a good meeting and a good reminder about how the Body of Christ must work together and use the gifts God has given us. We made a lot of progress and I left blessed. Another part of the blessing is the prayers that I was able to pray as I drive. I must focus better as I drive because I have some of my best conversations with God while in the car. I was able to get back to Hesston in time to get some exercise to play noon basketball. Busy day, but so far so good.
