I’ve enjoyed the last two days of rest and relaxing at my happy place, the beach. Here’s a few pictures from some quiet and peaceful times in Galveston. There’s just something about the sound of the waves, the feeling of sand in my toes and the fun of playing in the ocean that just refreshes me and makes me smile.  Thanks to a friend who encouraged me to always try and see the sunrise when you are at the beach!

My Aunt Kay Jean suggested I start sharing a verse of the day.  I liked her suggestion but decided instead of a verse of the day, I would share a verse of the week.  Be reminded of who God is from His Word. Amos has some difficult words to read as the nation of Israel faces exile and punishment for their sins.  However, as God does throughout Scripture, He redeems, restores, and reconciles.  Listen to these words from the end of Amos:  “In that day I will raise up      the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches,      and raise up its ruins      and rebuild it as in the days of old, 12  that they may possess the remnant of Edom      and all the nations who are called by my name,”      declares the Lord who does this. 13  “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord ,      “when the plowman shall overtake the r...

Yesterday, I had to restore my cell phone.  This is not a post about Android vs. iPhone.  However, it did cause me to think about the restoring process.  I had to hook my phone up to a computer where it was restored to its original settings.  This took a long time-several hours to be exact. After it was restored, it could then update settings so my phone is just as it was before the restoration. I was reminded of a verse from Psalm 51:12 which says: Restore to me the joy of your salvation,      and uphold me with a willing spirit. We all need to be restored back occasionally to the salvation that Jesus offers.  Sometimes we forget the cost for him to save us.  We forget his life, his death, and his resurrection.  We go through life on auto pilot and forget our salvation.  Similar to how we use our phones, we just expect them to work and when they don't, we have to restore them to the original settings.
