Sola is Latin for alone, the solas were considered the foundational principles of Protestantism which was begun by Martin Luther in 1517 (Sola! One of my stops during Sabbatical Trip 2 was to The Village Church in Dallas, TX.  I attended their worship service two weeks in a row. I also had the opportunity to observe their children's ministry for 5th grade and younger.  Here are a few thoughts from this visit: Matt Chandler and the Village Church have been taking some heat recently via social media. I was encouraged by Chandler's confession and repentance during the worship service. He was humble and gave permission for the congregation to contact any of the elders if they had been hurt by their actions.  His words and posture showed sorrow for his and others' actions Children's Ministry curriculum that is gospel centered and Jesus focused--I know this seems like a no brainer, but so much of the curriculum for kids is about morals and being good.  I appreciated Kid's Village (1st-5th) focus on the attributes of God. Here are selected promises of God from the gospel of Mark compiled by Kenneth Boa. The last two are my additions.  Be reminded of who God is and what He has done for us. God has identified with us in our humanity through the humility and servanthood of the incarnation.   Christ experienced the conditions of human limitations including his encounters with the temptations we face (1:12; 14:32-41). Jesus offers the glorious gift of the forgiveness of sins (2:1-12) so that we can be cleansed and lifted up into a relationship with him. Jesus welcomed the children. "When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, Le the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
