Retreat Day

No, I am not talking about retreating from Halloween.   But instead, I set aside the day today to spend in prayer and planning for the year ahead.  Today, marks the end of my 5th year at Hesston MB Church.  I am looking forward to many more years to come.  So, I use the retreat as a day to pray and listen and read the Word and listen and worship and listen.  Notice the pattern.  I find that I am so busy during my normal routine, even with morning devotions, to listen much.  Today's retreat gives me that wonderful opportunity.  I had several items to pray specifically about, but I also give a lot of time to go where the Holy Spirit leads.  I love these days as they are an encouragement to me and help me grow as a follower of Jesus.  After today, I have better direction regarding upcoming preaching, summer trips, finances, VBS, Hesston MB, and much more. Planning with the Pastors

Throughout the summer, we as pastors at Hesston MB have gathered to pray and plan together.  We have covered various topics such as calendar, missions, discipleship, ministry and congregation needs.  It has also included a discussion of DiscipleShift .  The more we meet together, the more excited I get about the future of Hesston MB. Last week is a perfect example.  We had a specific item that was on our agenda every Thursday for a month, but kept being crowded out.  It started to become somewhat frustrating.  But as we met last Thursday, we could see clearly that the delay was all about God's timing.  He was working out some amazing details that allowed us to make exciting plans for the summer.  We were able to see via a lunch meeting, email, and text that God is leading and guiding us as pastors as we make plans.  I cannot wait to share with the congregation what God has planned.
