Last year, I wrote a curriculum for our 2nd-4th grade classes at our mid-week program at church called Hide N Seek.  The curriculum focused on who God is. As part of that curriculum, my friend Brittni Rhodes, made images to convey the truth about who God is.  I would like to start sharing these images weekly as a reminder of the good, great, and awesome God we have.

This Sunday, I continue series on the attributes of God. Or in other words, the things that make God, God.  It is entitled, "God is...." Thank you to Brittni Rhodes for the graphics. This week, we will look at God is.....Good and Great Here are a few things to ponder prior to Sunday: Read the Bible passage : Nehemiah 9:9-21 Questions to think about: Who do you understand God to be?   What views of God do you have that are not the God of the Bible?  These may have come from teaching over the years or our culture.   What are examples of the ways that God is Good and Great? My Aunt Kay Jean suggested I start sharing a verse of the day.  I liked her suggestion but decided instead of a verse of the day, I would share a verse of the week.  Be reminded of who God is from His Word. 150  Praise the Lord ! Praise God in his sanctuary;      praise him in his mighty heavens! 2  Praise him for his mighty deeds;      praise him according to his excellent greatness! 3  Praise him with trumpet sound;      praise him with lute and harp! 4  Praise him with tambourine and dance;      praise him with strings and pipe! 5  Praise him with sounding cymbals;      praise him with loud clashing cymbals! 6  Let everything that has breath praise the Lord ! Praise the Lord ! (Psalm 150)

We often forget.  We see throughout history the Israelites and the church forgetting. We need to be reminded often of who God is in Scripture, church history and in our lives and churches. This is a new feature on the blog on the names of God.  Why?  Because these names are not just what God does, it is who He is.  I hope this will encourage you as you are reminded of how good, great, and awesome our God is. Abba   Abba means father or daddy . 15  For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:15) What it reminds me?  God is our Father.  He is good and loves to give good gifts.  We are not slaves, but instead adopted into His family.  He wants to be in relationship with us.  We can trust Him. Abba knows what is best.

Here are my notes from my sermon today at Hesston MB entitled, "What's Next?" Last week, Pastor Brad had two main points: Holy Spirit gives glory to Jesus & Disciples give glory to Jesus by testifying. (See John 15:26-27). Jesus shared his vision-tell others about me. Introduction: When Mitchell was younger, he loved to know the schedule for the day.   As we would talk about our plans, he would say “what’s next”.   Even if we gave him a whole day’s schedule, he would respond “what’s next.” Today’s message is one of the final times Jesus has with his disciples and I am sure the disciples are asking “what’s next.”   Read John 16:5-14 ·          Good (vs. 5-7) o    Vs. 5-Where are you going? §   Disciples were ordinary people like you & me. The term stems from the genetic effect in sheep whereby a recessive gene occasionally manifests in the birth of a sheep with black rather than white coloring; these sheep stand out in the flock. Here are notes from my message today at Hesston MB: Read Romans 8:31-39 God is for us! vs. 31-34 - This is my favorite verse in the Bible. Vs. 31-Today’s passage has a total of 6 questions with three in 31-32 & three more in 33-35.   If God is for us, who can be against us? What’s the answer? No one. It is a rhetorical question.   In the Greek, it could better be translated “since” instead of “if.” (MacArthur Bible Commentary). The answer is obvious.   God is for us.   God is for you. However, Paul knows how we think so he clarifies it more in the next verse. Vs. 32-God gave us Jesus.   This Jesus was born, lived, died, and rose again.   God did not spare His own Son.   Since we know this to be true, if He gave us Jesus, why would He not give us all things.   This amazing statement reinforces the previous verse.   God giving us Jesus is evidence that God is for us.
