Some of you may know that I serve part-time as social media coordinator for USMB conference.  One of the things I have done on their social media is share Bible verses with images that tie in with the words.  I decided to start sharing them weekly here on the blog. I hope you grow in your understanding of who God is from these verses.

Last year, I wrote a curriculum for our 2nd-4th grade classes at our mid-week program at church called Hide N Seek.  The curriculum focused on who God is. As part of that curriculum, my friend Brittni Rhodes, made images to convey the truth about who God is.  I would like to start sharing these images weekly as a reminder of the good, great, and awesome God we have.

This morning, I would like you to create a top 10 list about who God is.   List the ten most important things about Him. We often forget.  We see throughout history the Israelites and the church forgetting. We need to be reminded often of who God is in Scripture, church history and in our lives and churches. The names of God are important because these names are not just what God does, it is who He is.  I hope this will encourage you as you are reminded of how good, great, and awesome our God is. Elohim   Elohim means one true God. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) What it reminds me?  God is worthy of worship for so many reasons but His creation will cause us to praise and worship.  As I look around at humans, animals, flowers, mountains, oceans, and more, I see an amazing work of God.  He made all things.  If He has the power to create everything, then I trust His power over my life.

My Aunt Kay Jean suggested I start sharing a verse of the day.  I liked her suggestion but decided instead of a verse of the day, I would share a verse of the week.  Be reminded of who God is from His Word. Because God is Creator In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God . (Genesis 5:1)   Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. (Isaiah 40:28) Therefore, we are created in His image and new So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.  (Psalm 139:14) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation . The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Have you heard of the new curriculum published by Lifeway called The Gospel Project?  For the last few years, I have been looking for the right curriculum for our children's Sunday School.  What we were using was fine, but I was looking for more.  I wanted a curriculum that was Bible-based, Christ-centered, helped children understand God's Big Story rather than just isolated stories, & definitely a connection to the home where parents/grandparents could discuss what is being learned during the week.  I looked and looked and never found anything that fit everything I was looking for.  Each publishing company had some of these things, but not all of them.  I was beginning to think I needed to write my own curriculum.  Unfortunately, I don't have the time. However, I came across The Gospel Project while attending the Orange Conference in Atlanta.  I checked it out online and started to get excited.  I had some teachers "try it out" over ...

Since we had such a cool & beautiful morning, we decided to take a walk to the Arboretum. It was fun to see girls get excited about flowers, feathers, & hedge apples. We used this "God Moment" to talk about our awesome God who is creator. Enjoy the picture of God's beautiful creation below!
