Sermon Notes: "Seeing 2020" based on 1 Corinthians 4:6-7

Introduction : Today’s message is entitled “Seeing 2020”.   I can’t take credit for the title, because I heard someone else say it.   We know that physically seeing 20/20 means we have good vision.   In other words, we can see without the help of glasses or contacts.   As we move into a new year, what might God be asking us to see personally and as a church?   Just as the New Year is a great time to look back and look forward, those will be my two points this morning.   Looking Back (vs. 6) ·          I have applied these things… o    Servants of Christ (Paul & Apollos)-leaders of the church §   Servants of others §   Set aside by God o    Faithful with what is given §   Gospel-Christ died for sinners-saved by grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone. What does it mean to be "in Christ"?

For 2017, the phrase I am focusing on is "in Christ."  Each week, I will post 1 verse that includes the phrase "in Christ". I look forward to growing in understanding of what it means to be "in Christ." 10  We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. 11  To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, 12  and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; 13  when slandered, we entreat.
