This week in our D6 Dads groups, we are discussing a chapter from Prayer Coach  by James Nicodem about praying for pastors.  I thought his suggestions were helpful so I would like to share them with you.  Some may apply more specifically to lead pastors, but all of them are good reminders of the importance of praying for our leaders. Hesston MB, we pastors appreciate your prayers. Here are seven days of praying for your pastor: Day 1-That they would be honored, affirmed, encouraged and respected. Day 2-That they would be protected from the focused attacks of Satan, stay far from sin, and walk in obedience to God's Word. Day 3-That God would give them wisdom, patience, perseverance, and grace in facing people problems, and that those they lead would be loyal, understanding, and supportive. Day 4-That their marriages and parenting would be God-pleasing and wise. Day 5-That, in preparation for teaching God's Word, the would hear God's voice, protect their time for ...

I have been a little behind in my reading of Prayer Coach by James Nicodem. We are using this book with our D6 Dads groups this year. Here are a few quotes that caught my attention today: "You don't have to save your praying for something really, really big." I am continuing to read James Nicodem's book Prayer Coach .  Chapter 4 is entitled, "Promptings."  I look forward to discussing this book with our D6 Dads' groups.  Here are a few quotes that struck me: "Whenever we find ourselves worrying about something a little alarm should go off in our minds. I am reading through Prayer Coach by James Nicodem.  His book starts by discussing the obstacles we face in relation to prayer.  Our D6 Dads groups at Hesston MB will be going through this book this school year.  Here are a few thoughts to help remove some obstacles in your prayer life. "We can't talk sweetly with God while we're growling at others." "it seems as if we pray somewhat casually." "Sometimes we forget that God is for us." "God wants us to always pray and not give up. If we throw in the towel too soon, we'll miss the opportunity to see what God would've done had we persisted." "make prayer a regular habit with your spouse." "One final way to make prayer happen with others is to initiate it on the spot with those to whom you've been speaking."

This past week, I attended our MB Convention in Omaha.  Our speaker was James Nicodem.  He has written a book called Prayer Coach. In it, he offers practical tips to get you praying.  Here are a few quotes to whet your appetite for more: "One of my major objectives in writing this book is to convince you that praying is not just for the pros." "And the spice of praise is what gives flavor to our praying."  "But Jesus' intention was not to give us an incantation to repeat word for word.  He was providing us with a pattern to follow when we pray."
