Celebrating with my wife

Image
Over the last few days, I have been celebrating my 19th anniversary with Bethany (it was actually June 13).  I have tried over the years to plan a night or two away to enjoy being together as husband and wife.  When you have kids, this becomes more of a challenge.  When your anniversary falls in the middle of the busiest time for both of you (Sidewalk Sale, Summer Camp, VBS, Kids' summer games), it requires some patience, flexibility, and creativity. So, right now, we are in Kansas City for a few days shopping, eating, and enjoying one another's company and conversation.  By recommendation, I booked the Casablanca room at Chateau Avalon. I'm looking forward to this time together.

Christ Hold Fast Dallas, here we come!

Today, Bethany and I are headed to Dallas for the Christ Hold Fast one day conference.  Check back tomorrow for quotes from the speakers. I am looking forward to hearing the gospel and a weekend away with my beautiful wife without kids.

Celebrating 18 years together--a few weeks late

Our anniversary often falls in the middle of VBS, softball & basketball games, and sidewalk sale.  Therefore, we went out on a date closer to our anniversary (June 13), but we are officially celebrating with a weekend away now.  I look forward to our time together.  I am thankful she said yes.

Weekend to Remember

This weekend, Bethany and I are attending Weekend to Remember in Kansas City sponsored by Family Life. This is our second time to attend.  We are joined by the other pastors from Hesston MB and their spouses.  I look forward to time together with my wife and learning together.

Branson Again

Today, we are in Branson, MO again.  We are enjoying a weekend away as a family.  We will of course head to Silver Dollar City.  But a highlight for us will be attending "Joseph" at the Sight and Sound Theatre.  We were blessed with some free tickets so our family could attend.  I am looking forward to this mini-vacation as a family after three weeks of school. Happy Labor Day Weekend Everyone!

Bethany Withdrawal

Yesterday was the first day in a week when I didn't spend most of the day with Bethany. It was a weird feeling on Monday when I didn't see her until the evening. On our vacation, we spent most of the day together each day with little to no breaks. It was a great time growing together as a couple and strengthening our marriage. We had some great conversations and a lot of fun. We love our kids, but this was a great trip to focus on our marriage. I have heard several speakers say that at least once a year a couple should get away for at least a night together. I have tried to do this every year, but have not always succeeded. But after our vacation away, I would highly recommend it. Husbands, what is your plan to take your wife away for a night or weekend? Remember it does not have to be expensive, but it is an important investment in your relationship.
