Here's a song to remind us that it's all about Jesus.  At The Cross is a great song by Chris Tomlin.  My daughter, Molly, plays this song on constant repeat.  I love the line "where sin and shame are powerless." There's a place where mercy reigns and never dies There's a place where streams of grace flow deep and wide Where all the love I've ever found Comes like a flood Comes flowing down [Chorus:] At the cross At the cross I surrender my life I'm in awe of You I'm in awe of You Where Your love ran red and my sin washed white I owe all to You I owe all to You Jesus There's a place where sin and shame are powerless Where my heart has peace with God and forgiveness Where all the love I've ever found Comes like a flood Comes flowing down [Chorus] Here my hope is found Here on holy ground Here I bow down Here I bow down Here arms open wide Here You save my life Here I bow down Here I bow down [Chorus]

Here is a song playing on the radio by 7eventh Time Down called God is On the Move.   I like how the focus on the song is how God is working in the hearts of people causing transformation.  What a reminder that all our good works are from God and not about us working harder or trying more.  God is on the move. Hallelujah! Any time a heart turns from darkness to light Any time temptation comes and someone stands to fight Any time somebody lives to serve and not be served I know, I know, I know, I know God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God is on the move In many mighty ways God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God is on the move On the move today Any time in weakness someone falls upon their knees Or dares to speak the truth that sets men free Any time the choice is made to stand upon the Word I know, I know, I know, I know God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God is on the move In many mighty ways God is on the move, on the move Hallelujah God ...

Actually, this song is not playing on the radio yet.  However, I think it will be very soon.  This song is from Steven Curtis Chapman's new CD and the song is called Who You Say We Are. Be reminded of your identity in Christ today! Oh how great is the love The Father has lavished on us That we should be called The children of God Oh how great was the cost The Father was willing to pay So we could be called the children of God And all that we can say is thank you, Thank you And all that we can say is thank you, Thank you We are your sons We are your daughters Hallelujah, we are who You say we are So we lift our hands And cry Abba Father Hallelujah, we are who You say we are Hallelujah, we are who You say we are Oh how great is your amazing grace That took us as orphans and slaves And made us your heirs, And gave us Your name There’s nothing more we could ever do You finished it all on the cross Then rose from the grave And brought us with You

Today's song is a  new one by Steven Curtis Chapman called More Than Conquerors. Be reminded that the Enemy has been defeated by Jesus' death on the cross. Now there is no condemnation, now there is no guilt or shame For those who have been covered by the blood of Jesus And now the words of our accuser have been robbed of all their pow’r And the enemy has been defeated by the blood of Jesus So we stand with our hearts washed clean And we lift up our hands and sing We are more than conquerors, we are more than conquerors God if You are for us, who can be against us We are more than conquerors, we are more than conquerors God if You are for us, who can be against us What can separate us from Your love Once we were the slaves and pris’ners, now we’re children of the King The favored sons and daughters, saved by the blood of Jesus So tell me death, where is your vict’ry and tell me grave where is your sting You’ve been swallowed up in life, forever by the bl...

Today's song is by Jeremy Camp and is also the theme for our summer camps for the Southern District of Mennonite Brethren.  Let's point to Christ! In this obsession with The things this world says make us happy Can't see the slaves we are In all the searching, all the grasping Like we deserve much more Than all these blessings we're holding So now I'm running free Into an ocean of mercy, unending So come and empty me So that it's You I breathe I want my life to be Only Christ in me So I will fix my eyes ‘Cause You're my source of life I need the world to see That it's Christ in me, yeah That it's Christ in me, yeah Done with what holds me down The things I once was chasing after Throw off these heavy chains That I have let become my master So now I'm running free Into an ocean of mercy, unending

Christ is Risen!

Happy Easter! Today we celebrate that Christ has risen from the dead.  There are many songs I love to sing around Easter.  Here is one that has combined a hymn with a contemporary addition.  Hallelujah, Jesus is alive! Christ the Lord is ris'n today, alleluia Sons of men and angels say, alleluia Raise your joys and triumphs high, alleluia Sing ye heavens and earth reply, alleluia Lives again our glorious King, alleluia Where O death is now thy sting, alleluia Dying once He all doth save, alleluia Where thy victory Oh grave, alleluia He is not dead, He is alive We have this hope, in Jesus Christ Love's redeeming work is done, alleluia Fought the fight the battle won, alleluia Death in vain forbids Him rise, alleluia Christ has opened paradise, alleluia Soar we now where Christ has led, alleluia Following our exalted Head, alleluia Made like Him, like Him we rise, alleluia Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, alleluia

Today's song is a new one that we learned in our church a few weeks ago. It was a song picked for our Daughters of the King Event on February 27th. I love the words of the verses.  It also connected well with the tragedy that occurred in our community just days prior to this event.  Your love is devoted like a ring of solid gold Like a vow that is tested like a covenant of old Your love is enduring through the winter rain And beyond the horizon with mercy for today Faithful You have been and faithful You will be You pledge Yourself to me and it's why I sing (chorus) Your praise will ever be on my lips, ever be on my lips Your praise will ever be on my lips, ever be on my lips You Father the orphan Your kindness makes us whole And You shoulder our weakness And Your strength becomes our own Now You're making me like You Clothing me in white Bringing beauty from ashes For You will have Your bride Free of all her guilt and rid of all her shame And known by her true name a...

As many of you know, the community I live in was rocked last week when a workplace shooting took place in our small community of Hesston.  We appreciate your prayers as we come together to mourn and support those affected by the tragedy.  Today's song is one that brings hope in the midst of suffering. I've been running through rain That I thought would never end Trying to make it on faith In a struggle against the wind I've seen the dark and the broken places But I know in my soul No matter how bad it gets I'll be alright There's hope in front of me There's a light, I still see it There's a hand still holding me Even when I don't believe it I might be down but I'm not dead There's better days still up ahead Even after all I've seen There's hope in front of me There's a place at the end of the storm You finally find Where the hurt and the tears and the pain All fall behind You open up your eyes and up ahead There's a b...

Be reminded that no matter what is going on in your life right now.  You are loved!  Enjoy this song by Stars Go Dim. We hide pain in the weirdest places Broken souls with smiling faces Fighting for surrender For now and the after Just look around and you'll see that people Are scared to say how they really feel, oh We all need a little honesty You are loved If your heart's in a thousand pieces If you're lost and you're far from reason Just look up, know you are loved Just look up, and know you are loved When it feels like somethings missing If it hurts but you can't find healing Just look up, know you are loved Just look up, know you are loved. ooh We're not made to be superheroes, Photoshopped, all size zeroes We're a light not expected But not quite perfected yet. Look up see the sun is shining There's hope on a new horizon Calling you, calling... You dont have to prove yourself Dont try to be someone else

This song has been playing on the radio for several months now. K-Love plays the version by Kari Jobe who helped write the song.  It is called Forever and the version I am playing is by Brian Johnson and Bethel Music.  Be reminded of what Jesus has done for you.  I must confess I had heard the song but never really listened to the lyrics.  Once I listened and thought about the lyrics in worship a few weeks ago, praise and worship to Jesus welled up within me. Hallelujah! The Lamb has overcome! The moon and stars they wept The morning sun was dead The Savior of the world was fallen His body on the cross His blood poured out for us The weight of every curse upon Him One final breath He gave As heaven looked away The Son of God was laid in darkness A battle in the grave The war on death was waged The power of hell forever broken The ground began to shake The stone was rolled away His perfect love could not be overcome Now death wh...

Here is a great song playing on the radio right now by Casting Crowns called Just Be Held . It is a reminder that even when we can't hold on that God is holding on to us.  When we are faithless, He remains faithful.  Enjoy! Hold it all together Everybody needs you strong But life hits you out of nowhere And barely leaves you holding on And when you're tired of fighting Chained by your control There's freedom in surrender Lay it down and let it go So when you're on your knees and answers seem so far away You're not alone, stop holding on and just be held Your world's not falling apart, it's falling into place I'm on the throne, stop holding on and just be held Just be held, just be held If your eyes are on the storm You'll wonder if I love you still But if your eyes are on the cross You'll know I always have and I always will And not a tear is wasted In time, you'll understand I'm painting beauty with the ashes Your life is in My ha...

Here's a new song by Steven Curtis Chapman called Amen. I love the focus on our identity in Christ and believing what God says is true about us.  Be reminded of who you are today.  Enjoy! You have given us A new name The sons and daughters of your righteousness You have taking all of our shame And given us the gift of holiness Lord we're crying out for faith To believe the words you say You say we are loved You say we belong to you Your grace is enough Nothing more that we can do You say we've been bought by your blood, by your blood And all that we can say is amen. You have given us a new hope An anchor for the soul that shall not fail Jesus we believe your truth shines Yes in the darkest night, you shall prevail, Lord we're crying out for faith To believe the words you say. You say we are loved You say we belong to you Your grace is enough Nothing more that we can do You say we've been bought by your blood, by your blood And all th...

Here is a song I heard in the car when I was rushing to a basketball game. It is called Breathe by Jonny Diaz.  What a great reminder to rest in Christ!  Alarm clock screaming bare feet hit the floor It's off to the races everybody out the door I'm feeling like I'm falling behind, it's a crazy life Ninety miles an hour going fast as I can Trying to push a little harder trying to get the upper hand So much to do in so little time, it's a crazy life It's ready, set, go it's another wild day When the stress is on the rise in my heart I feel You say just (chorus) Breathe, just breathe Come and rest at My feet And be, just be Chaos calls but all you really need Is to just breathe Third cup of joe just to get me through the day Wanna make the most of time but I feel it slip away I wonder if there's something more to this crazy life I'm busy, busy, busy, and it's no surprise to see That I only have time for me, me, me There's gotta be someth...

Here is a song playing on the radio right now.  It is called "Call It Grace" by Unspoken. A great reminder of why grace is such good news! Enjoy. It's the light that pierces through you To the darkest hidden place It knows your deepest secrets But it never looks away It's the gentle hand that pulls you From the judgement of the crowd When you stand before them guilty And you got no way out Some may call it foolish and impossible But for every heart it rescues, it's a miracle It's nothing less than scandalous This love that took our place Just call it what it is, call it grace Call it grace It's the breath that's breathing new life Into what we thought was dead It's the favor that takes orphans Placing crowns upon their heads It's the hope for our tomorrows The rock on which we stand It's a strong and mighty fortress Even Hell can't stand against Some may call it foolish and impossible But for every heart it...

Playing on the Radio

I have been listening to this song for months because my family loves Josh Wilson.  They have only recently started playing it on the radio. Here is a great reminder for us about what grace does in our lives. We used to hide from the light We made friends with the night We were headed the wrong way on a one way track Going nowhere fast We got used to the dark We thought this is who we are And we figured that we were just too far gone But we were wrong ‘Cause love came running like a river And we got washed in the water Then He said you're forgiven Your sins are gone That was then, this is now You're bought by the blood, saved by the Son the saints all sing about That was lost, this is found And it's time to say goodbye to the old you now So go ahead, put the past in the past Box it up like an old photograph You don't have to go back ‘Cause that was then and this is now We've been remade by grace We've all got new names And nothing we do could ever change ...

Happy New Year! This is Day 1

Image
Happy New Year! I am looking forward to 2016.  I am working on a post for 1 Corinthians 13 Parenting for why I do not make New Year's Resolutions.  Check it out later in the month.  For today, I am sharing Matthew West's song "Day One" as a reminder of the new grace and mercy we receive each and every day. Because of the Lord ’s great love we are not consumed,      for his compassions never fail. 23  They are new every morning;      great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Day After Christmas

Hallelujah (Light Has Come)

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs Bethany has done as a trio.  It is by Barlow Girl.  Jesus is the light of the world and the Savior who sets us free.

O, Holy Night

Bethany told me about listening to this version of "O, Holy Night" while driving the other day.  It is by David Phelps and worth your time. This is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever.
