The Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church is looking for people in need of a change, an oil change, that is.
The Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church is once again partnering with Lords Lubers of Valley Center to provide free oil changes for the Hesston community.
In partnering with the Lords Lubers, a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Valley Center which provides free oil changes as a non-denominational Christian ministry, the church will be helping cover costs.
“When people are in need, the first place they should look is the Church, but unfortunately that isn’t always the case,” said J.L. Martin, Associate Pastor of Family Ministries.
The Church has hosted the Lords Lubers in October and received an incredibly positive response from the Hesston community with 21 cars serviced at the last community oil change. “The first time we didn’t now what to expect, but we were very pleased with the results from October. Several people within the church and the community thought it was a good idea to reach out to the community and help those that could benefit from a free oil change,” said Martin.
Martin and others within the church wanted to wait until spring to host another oil change. “We wanted to try again, but we also wanted to wait until the weather got warmer. Really, why we’re doing it again is because we thought it went very well the first time. We’ve learned a few things and hope to have another really positive turnout on Saturday,” said Martin.
Martin once again emphasized the oil change is for anyone in the community in need. “We said for single moms and widows, but really everyone is welcome to come. We’re not going to be asking questions. If they feel they have a need, we will be more than happy to help them,” he said.
Once again, Martin said it is best if those wanting oil changes could call in advance. “We would encourage people to call as soon as possible to make sure we have all the filters and oil we need.
Community members wanting to schedule an oil change can contact the Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church at 327-2847.
