Your Identity in Christ

I am working on family devotions for Hide N Seek and plan to include a verse about our identity in Christ each week.  These might also be the verses we use for fuzion this year.  Anyway, I thought I would share what I have been working on.  Remember, this is who you are!

1.     Saint-“To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus. . .” (Ephesians 1:1)

2.     Blessed-“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3)

3.     Chosen-“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world  to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:4)

4.     Holy-“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” (Colossians 3:12)

5.     Blameless-“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

6.     Loved-“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10)

7.     Adopted-“he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. . .” (Ephesians 1:5)

8.     Redeemed-“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.” (Galatians 3:13-14)

9.     Forgiven-“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:13-14)

10.  Sealed-“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)

11.  Inheritance-“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” (Hebrews 9:15)

12. Child-“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)

13.    Priest-“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

14. Servant-“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24)

15.  Friend-“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13)

16. New-“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!(2 Corinthians 5:17)

17. Reconciled-“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

18. Ambassador-“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)
