Sermon Teaser: New Series--God is....Creator

This Sunday, I begin a new series on the attributes of God. Or in other words, the things that make God, God.  It is entitled, "God is...." Thank you to Brittni Rhodes for the graphics. This week, we will look at God is.....Creator

Here are a few things to ponder prior to Sunday:

Read the Bible passage: Genesis 1

Questions to think about:
  • Who do you understand God to be?  
  • Listen to this quote from A.W. Tozer, "“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us. And the second is what we think God thinks of us.” Do you agree or disagree?
  • Do you have any false narratives about who God is that is not based on the Bible? If so, during this series, consider letting them go. 
  • Why does it matter that God is Creator?

Sermon Notes "Plans" based on Acts 10:24-48

Introduction: I would like you to think about the word “plans”. Write down on your bulletin some plans you have for: this week, summer, your future, etc.   I am a planner so I love to know what is going to happen.   Yet we also need to keep in mind a Scripture from Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” We are going to see from the story of Peter and Cornelius, two great leaders who had plans yet God had a different plan and purpose for them and for others. Prepared- vs. 24-29 ·          Vs. 23-24-Peter and Cornelius have visions (10:1-23) o    Peter is told not to call common what God has made clean (15).
