Easter Week Family Devotions

This week during our family devotions, we have been focusing on Jesus' last week on Earth. I have been reading from the gospels and talking about details that the kids might not understand completely. On Monday, I read up to the Last Supper. Last night, I began with Jesus' prayer in the garden and went through his death and burial. This weekend, I will read about his resurrection from the dead.

We have been singing songs related to Palm Sunday and Easter. Something different we did this year was to go to the site, www.bricktestament.com. This is a wonderful site for those who have kids who love legos. It uses legos to tell Bible stories. So, we used this idea last night and the kids made lego scenes from the passion week as I read God's Word. It was fun seeing their creativity!

Here are few other ideas for this week:
  • Watch a cartoon or video about passion week such as God Rocks: Rez The Rock That Rolled or many others that tell the story well.
  • Hide "Resurrection Eggs" and then tell the story using the items found in the eggs.
  • Make Easter Cookies or Tomb Crescent Rolls. I don't have the recipe for either of these, but an Internet search could probably find them.
  • Use a children's book like Little Colt's Palm Sunday or The Tale of the Three Trees or a Children's Bible or devotion like The Jesus Storybook Bible, Bible Stories for Growing Kids, or Step into the Bible to share the story.
Most importantly, share the true meaning of Easter with your kids during this week!
