Quotes to Ponder

It has been awhile since I posted some quotes from the books I am reading. Currently, I am reading Collaborate, Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys, and A Certain Risk.

Here are a few quotes to make you think:

From Collaborate (multiple authors)

"What the church can do best is communicate and execute a clear strategy that equips both parent and church to fulfill their God-designed roles."

"Find a way to build a common path for church and home for the sake of the next generation."

From A Certain Risk (Paul Richardson)

"
He was confident that if God had given him a dream to reach those kids, then God would also provide the means to reach them."

"Be assured that for every barrier you encounter, He has already created a solution."

"As the Spirit opens our eyes, the everyday course of our lives becomes an adventure of innovation."

"Grace dares us to open our eyes and dream greater dreams. Dreams that are born in faith and that challenge the impossible. Dreams that defiantly move against strongholds that enslave and suffocate humanity. Dreams that fuel our imaginations and redirect the course of history. Grace dares us to open our eyes and see the river, catching a glimpse of the unlimited possibilities all around us."

"There's nothing passive about faith. Faith is the catalyst of an activated hope, a confident expectation that our hearts' passion to unearth evidence of the unseen will be fulfilled."

"Be assured that if your heart and soul seek after God, you will "keep on seeing things" (quote from Prince Caspian). You won't just catch a glimpse of God in the trees. You will begin to see Him everywhere. You won't just hear his voice on the occasional Sunday morning. You will begin to hear him whispering, guiding, calling, and moving all around you. You will begin to grasp what it means to pray without ceasing."

"To invest a talent, a spiritual gift, a skill set, a wallet full of cash, or anything else that God has placed under your control on behalf of others honors and glorifies your Creator. It's a chance to declare the greatness of your God by dreaming, chasing, and activating the possibilities He has already planted within you and around you."

"Extended silence opened a portal of communication with God."

"To taste of this freedom, we must make a life habit of letting go. Along the winding, fluctuating paths into the future, we must be quick to say, Release!"

"Could it be that our greatest barriers to freedom are our own heart addictions--the synthetic elements that substitute God?"

From Wild Things (Stephen James and David Thomas)

"Men, we all intuitively know that being a dad is a really big deal. It's the most significant thing a man could ever do. There's no bigger title a man will wear than "Daddy"-not CEO, not president, not all-star, not hero. As a father, a man has the tremendous power to bless or curse his son. The quality of a relationship a boy has with his dad will directly affect the rest of his life-from how he relates to God, to how he will relate to his future wife, to how he will one day parent his own sons. A son's connection to his father is one of the most defining experiences in a boy's life, but being a father to a boy is not an easy relationship to establish, grow or maintain."

"Without a dad, kids suffer. Sadly, the state of fatherhood in our culture is bleak, and this doesn't bode well for our boys. Without a dad who is engaged in his life, a boy is likely to perpetuate this sad state of affairs."
